Adult Developmental Home Provider (ADH)

Adult Developmental Home (ADH) is a licensed family home setting designed to provide nurturing care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities within your own home. This model fosters a more conducive adult development environment than traditional group homes. As a developmental home provider, you will provide an adult with a stable, loving home, serve as their advocate, teach them essential life skills, and positively influence their quality of life..

 

Become a Developmental Home Provider

 

To qualify for licensing and placement, applicants must meet the following criteria:

 

  • Be at least 21 years of age.

  • If married, both spouses must complete all licensing requirements.

  • Attend pre-service training sessions.

  • All adults in the home must obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

  • Successfully pass protective service registry checks.

  • Be lawfully present in the United States and maintain residence in Arizona.

  • Be free of medical, physical, or mental health conditions that may hinder the provision of safe care to a vulnerable adult.

  • Can provide a caring, nurturing, and positive home environment

  • Can provide an adult with a clean bed and sufficient bedroom space

  • Be financially capable of meeting your own household needs.

  • Home must be able to pass and maintain the life-safety requirements

 
How to get started?

 

To begin the process of becoming a developmental home provider, the following documents and actions are required:

  • An Initial Application

  • Applicant Questionnaire by 

  • Criminal Disclosure (for everyone over 18 living in the home)

  • Home Study

  • Health self-disclosure and physician disclosure

 

Applicants must complete a minimum of 18 hours of required training before obtaining licensure, covering topics such as:

 

- Article 9 - CPR & First Aid - Recognizing Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation - Foundations of DDD - Introduction to the 4 D's - Teaching & Skill Building - Medication Safety - Incident Reporting - Confidentiality & HIPAA - Choking Prevention Awareness - Principles of Positive Behavior Support - Client Funds Provider Training - Cultural Competency - Documentation & Progress Reporting Requirements - Vendor Policies - Review of Article 10 & 11 - Review of the Child or Adult Developmental Home Subcontract - Supporting Positive Relationships with Family Members and School or Day Programs - Professional Communication

 

Participation in the training is offered at no cost to applicants. Furthermore, additional training opportunities are available for licensed foster parents to facilitate ongoing skill development and compliance with annual licensing requirements.

 

It is important to note that ADH providers operate as independent contractors rather than employees of Kompton House, LLC. The applicant's availability and motivation largely determine the timeframe for obtaining licensure; it typically ranges from 3 to 6 months to complete the fingerprint clearance card, requisite training, home inspections, and various interviews and assessments pertinent to the home study. Throughout this period, our agency is committed to providing guidance and support at each stage of the process. Upon completing these requirements, our agency will formally submit your application and home study to the Office of Licensing and Certification.
